New trailer for 'Unfinished Song' with Terence Stamp and Gemma Arterton
Just in case you didn't get enough of old folks putting their withered vocal chords to the test in Quartet, Unfinished Song is here to provide another dose. Formerly titled Song for Marion, the musical comedy stars Zod himself, Terence Stamp, as a cranky old man who is convinced by his terminally ill wife(Vanessa Redgrave) to join the local senior citizens' choir where he'll presumably learn some sort of life lesson with the help of a chirpy Gemma Arterton.
I recall this film having a strong amount of buzz a few months ago until it debuted in Toronto, and now that the first trailer has arrived it's clear exactly why. If the plot already sounded like a recipe for mawkishness, then this footage all but seals the deal. Forget the painful stuff like watching people old enough to be your grandparents jammin' to Salt 'n Pepa's 'Let's Talk About Sex', but there are few laughs to be found in the geriatric humor. Stamp, Redgrave, and Arterton will always be a pleasure to watch on some level, but can even they save something like this? Doubtful.
Directed by Paul Andrew Williams, Unfinished Song clears its throat on February 8th....
