'Bad Teacher 2' In the Works; Cameron Diaz Expected To Return

When Bad Teacher took in more than $200M back in 2011, it took a lot of folks by surprise. In a year full of strong R-rated comedies, Cameron Diaz's film about the world's worst educator stood as one of the most successful, and Sony has been quick to capitalize, developing a TV series starring Ari Graynor that CBS has picked up for next season. But what is now the Bad Teacher franchise (!!!) has grown even bigger as another film is on the way.

Deadline reports that Jake Kasdan will be back to direct Bad Teacher 2, with Cameron Diaz expected to return although no deal has been struck. Justin Malen will step in to write the script, but there's no word on whether co-stars Jason Segel, Lucy Punch, and Justin Timberlake will return. One has to expect at least a couple of them will enroll in another class, if only because Sony is putting a lot of muscle behind it.

Kasdan, Diaz, and Segel are already working together on the raunchy comedy, Sex Tape, which is also at Sony.
