Movie Trailer for TEKKEN! Oy!

A quick run down of previous fighting games that went to the big screen will show a list of some of the worst movies ever made. The original Street Fighter with Raul Julia as the world's weakest M. Bison? Check. How about both Mortal Kombats? Awful. The Legend of Chun-Li is only saved by the unintentional comic stylings of Chris Klein. I have to admit, I did like 2006's Dead or Alive, though. Atleast it seemed to recognize and embrace the video games' tawdryness. It's little more than hot chicks fighting eachother. Plot be damned.

But Tekken is one of those games that, to me, has no real angle to it. It's not cheesecake like DOA; it's characters aren't iconic like Street Fighter; and it's not overly brutal like Mortal Kombat. It's just sort of...there. So when I heard a movie was coming out based on it, I knew it had no potential to be any good at all. Especially considering the people who worked on it, who's credits include such "hits"(read: shits) as The Marine and Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid.

My initial impression of the trailer is mixed. It looks flat out crappy, the setting a dark generic tourney landscape. Based on this, it looks like they will atleast try to focus on the tournament battles, and hopefully spend little time on whatever terrible conspiracy plot we all know is in there somewhere. I did get a kick out of seeing Eddy Gordo, though! Take a look at the trailer, fight fans, and let us know what you think.
