Secretive GI Joe Sequel Writer Remains...A Secret

It was pretty obvious that a GI Joe sequel was going to happen, since this summer's film turned out to be a more enjoyable, far more profitable venture than anyone could've hoped. I'm sure a ton of really cheesy looking Joseph Gordon-Leavitt Cobra Commander action figures got sold in Wal-Marts thanks to that film. Paramount's VP Rob Moore said a sequel was imminent, and apparently he wasn't kidding. Collider has learned that the studio has named a writer for the unnamed follow-up, but unfortunately that's all that is known. Nobody knows who the guy is.

GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra went on to gross upwards of $300M worldwide. As it stands right now all of the principle players are obligated to appear in the sequel, so hopefully that means more Scarlett vs. Baroness catfights, and if we're lucky they'll add a hot oil element to that particular scrap. No word on whether or not director Stephen Somers(The Mummy) will return.
