Tops at the Box Office

1. Shrek Forever After- $71.2M
Despite debuting at a record number of 3-D sites, Shrek's fourth and final film(yeah right) got off to an anemic start compared to it's predessecors. Perhaps due to the onslaught of competition from Iron Man and Robin Hood, Forever After is some $50M less than Shrek the Third's record-breaking opening weekend.

2.Iron Man 2- $26.6M/$251M
Dropping like a stone, Marvel's sequel dipped another 49% from last week, far exceeding the downward trend of 2008's original. Although Iron Man 2 has more money than Iron Man did by nearly $30M at this point, the rate of decline is sharper, and there's a good chance it won't match that film's final total. I'm not surprised by any of this. There's simply too much competition this time around. Iron Man sorta came out of nowhere two years ago.

3. Robin Hood- $18.7M/$66.1M
Not exactly hitting the bullseye but not misfiring wildly either, Robin Hood held pretty well in it's second week. Maybe all those folks who ignored it for another round of Iron Man finally showed up.

4. Letters to Juliet- $9.1M/$27.4M
The stronger half of last week's romantic duo had the second slightest drop, dipping only 33%.

5. Just Wright- $4.22M/$14.6M
While the Queen Latifah/Common rom-com lost nearly half it's already meager audience. Ouch. But at least it fared better than a certain SNL skit turned spy movie...

6. MacGruber- $4.1M
Talk about an explosive disaster! To put MacGruber's floppery in perspective, 200's The Ladies Man, another SNL sketch turned flick, debuted with an opening gross of $5.4M. Even Molly Shannon's 1999 flick, Superstar, grossed $30M overall. Perhaps the biggest hurdle MacGruber had to overcome was that the majority of it's funniest jokes couldn't be presented in ads, thanks to their decidedly R-rated material. It didn't help that nobody under the age of 30 knows who the heck MacGyver is.

7. Date Night- $2.83M/$90.7M

8. A Nightmare on Elm Street- $2.29M/$59.9M

9. How to Train Your Dragon- $1.85M/$211M

10. Kites- $953K
