Weeee!!! More Release Date Merry-Go-Rounds!
Yesterday it was Warner Brothers and New Line, and now we've got the House that Mickey Built and 20th Century Fox droppin' their release dates for the next year...
Thank goodness it's not another The Girlfriend Experience. Steven Soderbergh's next flick, Contagion, will hit theaters on October 21st 2011. It's an action thriller starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Matt Damon, Marion Cotillard, Laurence Fishburne, and Kate friggin' Winslet. Based on the cast alone it's already my most anticipated film for next year.
David Gordon Green's(Pineapple Express, George Washington) The Sitter has found a home on July 15th 2011. The comedy stars Jonah Hill(Superbad) as a college student who is asked to babysit his neighbor's bratty kids. Adventures in Babysitting-type problems soon arise. While I'm on the subject: When is the Adventures in Babysitting remake happening? You know it ain't far away, right? I can see Amanda Seyfried in the Elisabeth Shue role already.
The Ashley Greene(Twilight)/Sebastian Stan(Captain America: The First Avenger) supernatural horror flick, The Apparition, will scare it's way into theaters on September 9th 2011. Trying to get ahead of the Saw/Paranormal Activity curve I guess.
Yay for this one! Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2: Rodrick Rules has graduated to a March 25th 2011 release date. I don't know why I'm excited for that.
Tigger bounces back into theaters on July 15th 2011 with Disney's Winnie the Pooh movie. I didn't even know one was being planned. The last Pooh film was 2005's Pooh's Heffalump Movie. The most successful, however, was 2000's The Tigger Movie which grossed over $95M.
Feels like forever since there's been a Farrelly Brothers comedy that's been any good. Next year they'll bring us Hall Pass on February 25th, with Owen Wilson starring as a husband in a dull marriage who's wife allows him one week of guilt free extramarital affairs. Novel concept. Sounds like a winner.
Jaume Collet-Serra(Orphan, House of Wax) is stepping away from the horror genre and into the thriller business as his Liam Neeson starring Unknown White Male will hit theates on January 7th 2011. Neeson stars as a coma patient who wakes up to discover that someone has taken on his identity. Diane Kruger and January Jones co-star.
