Talk about art imitating life. Robert Rodriguez wrote the script for Machete well over a year ago, based off the fake trailer presented during his half of Grindhouse alongside Quentin Tarantino. Little did he know that the idea he spawned would have real world parallels when it hits theaters on September 3rd. How's that? The film's story is very similar to the situation taking place in Arizona right now. The only difference is, Machete ain't sittin' back and lettin' The Man screw him and his boys over.
As a Cinco de Mayo gift of sorts, Rodriguez has put together a special trailer specifically for the people in Arizona, and it's absolutely badass. The only thing it needs is a mock-up of Jan Brewer burning in effigy.
You want to see this trailer, so head on over to Ain't It Cool News to check it out!
Machete is set to explode onto theaters Labor Day September 3rd, 2011. Starring Danny Trejo as Machete, Robert Deniro, Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Alba, and so many more.
