Marvel Unveils the Infinity Gauntlet; The Avengers villain revealed?

After all the hubbub over seeing the cast of The Avengers on stage together for the first time had died down, Marvel still had one more trick up its sleeve. It rolled out a bulky, golden glove, encrusted with shining jewels onto the floor. Comic heads immediately knew what it had to be: The Infinity Gauntlet.

For those that don't know, the Infinity Gauntlet is a glove with six powerful gems embedded within. Each gem posesses complete control over a certain aspect of the universe: space, time, mind, soul, reality, and power. The gauntlet has nearly always been in use by the mad Titan, Thanos, who used it in a grand scheme to appease the personification of Death by killing half of the universe.

We've known for some time that all of Marvel's upcoming movies would tie-in in some way leading up to The Avengers. Does that mean a common enemy in each of them? If so, Thanos seems like the likely guy for the job. Then again, Thor's brother Loki has been involved with the Infinity Gems as well, although I don't think he's a large scale enough character to be the main villain. Tom Hiddleston, the actor portraying Loki, has sortof hinted that he may be in The Avengers as well. To me, that means Loki and Thanos teaming up in some fashion.

Whatever the case may be, I love every story that involves Thanos. He's one of Marvel's most intriguing and unique characters, and a genuine badass. I'd kill to see him represented on the big screen.
