Sure Shots: Laurence Fishburne; Saw VII; James Cameron

* Laurence Fishburne is a busy dude. Not only is he starring in Predators, due out today, but he's also on the top rated TV show, CSI, and a regular theatrical gig as well. Somehow he's found time in his ridiculous schedule to sign on to Contagion, Steven Soderbergh's multi-tiered story about an outbreak of a lethal virus.  He'll be joining Marion Cotillard, Kate Winslet, Matt Damon, Jude Law, and Gwyneth Paltrow. With a cast like that I'd give up CSI altogether to be a part of it.

* Y'know, when you've been around as long as the Saw franchise has been now, you got to spruce things up a bit. The first idea was to have the seventh film shot in 3-D. That's not really a big deal anymore, though, is it? So what's next? Give it a title that guarantees nobody's going to forget your aged horror series exists. Saw VII has been officially named....Saw 3D: The Traps Come Alive.  It's alive....it's alive!!!

* Just how lucrative was Avatar last year? We already know the box office numbers, over $2.7B in total receipts worldwide. But what does that mean for James Cameron? Reports are that he's making a cool $350M off the film, the biggest payout ever for a director off a single project. With that kind of loot, Cameron can pay to plug up all the oil spills he wants. He'll probably get even more when Avatar re-releases into theaters on August 27th with added footage.
