Tops at the Box Office

1.Inception- $43.5M/$144M
Christopher Nolan's Inception kept ahead of Salt, only dropping 32% from last week. It's foothold was secured thanks to a hefty IMAX intake at over $4.8M. In fact, Inception is actually faring better than Batman Begins at this same stage. Good work, America.

2. Salt- $36.5M
If Angelina Jolie's new actioner was looking to snag the Bourne audience it did a good job as it's opening compares favorably with that well regarded series. It doesn't compare to Lara Croft: Tomb Raider's $48M opening, but it ranks in Jolie's top 4 overall.

3. Despicable Me- $24.1M/$162M
Only dropping 24% this week, Despicable Me continues to impress moviegoers.

4. The Sorcerer's Apprentice- $9.69M/$42.6M

5. Toy Story 3- $9.03M/$380M

6. Ramona and Beezus- $8M
Maybe it's director Elizabeth Allen, but the film version of the beloved Beverly Clearey series of books got off roughly the same debut as Allen's 2006 film, Aquamarine. That is: disappointing.

7. Grown Ups- $7.6M/$142M
Adam Sandler's all-star comedy had the smallest percentage drop of the week at 23%.

8. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse- $7.03M/$280M

9. The Last Airbender- $4.17M/$123M

10. Predators- $2.85M/$46.6M
