Wanna Know how Awesome The Expendables Is?

It's being censored in the United Kingdom. That's how awesome it is. Sylvester Stallone's action hero packed flick, due to storm theaters on August 13th, has already been granted a hard 'R' rating for strong action and blood violence here in the United States. Yes!!  But the UK, which uses a far different rating scheme than our MPAA, settled upon a rating of '15' instead of the much harsher '18'. 

Liongate UK decided that they didn't want the film to gain the '18' rating because it would've had a detrimental effect on profits. I can understand that. It has to suck for our friends from across the pond, but that's the way the bottle spills, I guess.

So what was the scene that threatened to give The Expendables the dreaded '18'?  A two second shot of one of Stallone's gang twisting a knife into some poor loser's neck. That's what got cut to secure a '15'. 

There's a larger issue that I'm sure some could make about our two cultures that it's perfectly exceptable to Lionsgate that the film get an 'R' rating here, but in the UK where it's less tolerated they find it unacceptable. But I don't really care about all that. I always just want the creator's full artistic vision, amped up violence and all. Let me decide later if it's gratuitous or not.
