Idris Elba signs multi-film deal with Marvel Studios; joins Ghost Rider sequel

I'm really excited about some of the choices Idris Elba is making. While we still await finalization of his deal to play Alex Cross in the prequel to Kiss the Girls, he's gone on and signed a multi-picture deal with Marvel Studios. He's already signed on for Thor, but can Black Panther be far behind? Luke Cage? Elba seems to think so, but he has a particular fondness for a certain tax evading vampire killer...

Elba: "I have a picture deal with them (Marvel). I can’t tell you much about that, but I can tell you I’ll be back…I wouldn’t mind having a crack at bringing Blade back, personally…But erm, there’s a couple of things there that they have… Luke Cage is… very interesting."

With that deal now in place, it's been announced that he and Johnny Whitworth(the annoying dude from Empire Records) are in negotiations for roles in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. Elba will be "a warrior monk tasked with finding Ghost Rider". Whitworth's role has been confirmed to be that of Blackout, Ghost Rider's darkness generating nemesis.

Elba and Whitworth will be joining the returning Nicolas Cage, Ciaran Hinds(Munich), and Violante Placido(The American) in the Neveldine/Taylor directed film.
