Brett Ratner promises ex-WWE star Shad Gaspard an audition for Youngblood

The WWE made a mistake when they released big Shad Gaspard from his contract last November. The former thugged out powerhouse of the tag team Cryme Tyme has been trying to angle his way into acting ever since. Last year he was a finalist for a major role in the upcoming Conan the Barbarian flick, and he's got a small role in an indie comedy(starring Christine Lahti) due out later this year. It's clear he wants more, though, and Brett Ratner(Rush Hour) seems willing to give him a shot.

It all started with a tweet featuring an image of a hulked out Shad next to an image of Chapel, member of the Image Comics superhero team, Youngblood. Youngblood creator, Rob Liefeld, and Ratner have been trying to put together a film adaptation of the comic for a couple of years(we last wrote about it in May '09) but it doesn't appear to be any closer to happening.  However, Ratner got a hold of those pics of Shad and the two had a brief and potentially star-making conversation....

@Shadbeast: LOL I guess a lot of you agree i should hit up @BrettRatner and show him http://twitpic.com/41jequ to see if i could play Chapel.

@Shadbeast: i doubt @BrettRatner would respond guy’s but i’ll try :-)

@BrettRatner: I’m here what’s up?

@BrettRatner: I will get you an audition when Youngblood is ready!

@Shadbeast: Really! wow thats some cool stuff thank you, just let me know when and where and i’ll be there overly prepared. You can hit meup on here or call my agent Rick Bassmen of CESD. Man thanks agene Brett I really appreciate this opportunity. Thank you

That would be pretty cool, wouldn't it? As a wrestling fan I have no doubt that once Shad's contract with IGF expires he'll make his way back to Vince McMahon's promotion. As an even bigger fan of success stories part of me hopes this audition(if it ever happens) leads to something major, and we'd have Twitter to thank for it.
