Bryan Singer finds his Jack the Giant Killer

So his commitments to Jack the Giant Killer may have kept him from directing X-men: First Class(which looks great in my opinion), but Bryan Singer's making the best of it. A darker, more adult take on Jack and the Beanstalk, we've already learned a few of the names who'll be taking part in it. Stanley Tucci will be the chief villain, while Bill Nighy and John Kassir will play the double-headed leader of the giants named Fallon.

The only thing missing was a title character, but that search is now over.  Deadline reports that Nicholas Hoult has won the gig, adding to what has been an impressive, potentially star making run for the young actor. He stole a lot of hearts(of men and women alike) in 2009 opposite Colin Firth in A Single Man. And speaking of X-men: First Class, Hoult is the guy donning the blue fur of Hank "Beast" McCoy. He's been attached to George Miller's troubled Mad Max: Fury Road flick, so this could make three potential franchise films.

The film will be shot and released in 3D, based on a script by Christopher McQuarrie(The Usual Suspects).  The plot of the film is described as:

“When a princess is kidnapped, a long-standing peace between men and giants becomes threatened, and a young farmer is given an opportunity to lead a dangerous expedition to the giant kingdom to rescue her.”
