Sure Shots: Chiwetel Ejiofor; New Year's Eve; Abbie Cornish

* I've been saying for years that Chiwetel Ejiofor was going to be the next Denzel Washington. That hasn't quite happened yet, but he continues to tackle interesting projects. He, along with Jim Caviezel have joined the cast of Savannah, Annette Haywood-Carter's film about a friendship between a big game hunter and a freed slave.  The last film I remember from Haywood-Carter was 1996's Foxfire, which still features my favorite Angelina Jolie performance as "Legs" Sadovsky.

* Halle Berry out, Katherine Heigl in as Jon Bon Jovi's ex-lover in Garry Marshall's New Year's Eve. The casting count for the film now stands at 118 with a $800M budget. I'm exaggerating a little bit.

* I follow Abbie Cornish's career like a crazed stalker, so I was very happy to see that she's locked down yet another starring gig. She'll be featured in Bruce Bereford's(Driving Miss DaisyWhisperings and Lies, based on the life of Russian composer and pianist, Sergei Rachmaninoff. Cornish will play one of two roles, either his wife or the protege he had an affair with. Thanks to BleedingCool for the info on this one.
