Sure Shots: Dead Island; Dracula 3D; The Great Gatsby

* So I'm not one who typically follows trends, so when all my friends were wetting themselves over the Dead Island video game trailer, I ignored it. Then I finally watched it once the buzz calmed down and nearly fell into a crying jag it was so beautiful. It wasn't long after that it was reported that the movie rights had been snapped up by the Sean Daniel Company. Well, now the game's actual publisher, Deep Silver, is saying that the rights have not been sold and we will "not see a quick sell on this".  What the farq??

* Of all the Dracula projects floating around, Dario Argento's Dracula 3D is probably the one I have the least faith in. However, he's just made a move that could change my mind just a little bit, as Rutger Hauer has signed on to play Van Helsing in the film. Hauer's profile has increased significantly(he, he's a fave of mine since Blind Fury!) since his appearances in Sin City and Batman Begins, and this could keep that momentum alive.  He'll be seen next in the indie grindhouse flick, Hobo With a Shotgun.

* I still don't understand the desire to shoot The Great Gatsby in 3D, but that's exactly what Baz Luhrmann has officially announced he will do. Not only that, but Warner Brothers will indeed distribute the adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel, which should begin shooting in Australia in August. Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, and Tobie Maguire are set to star. Now who's  going to star as my favorite character, Jordan Baker?
