Tops at the Box Office
1. Just Go With It- $31M
Although a bit below average for an Adam Sandler film, Just Go With It managed to notch the comedian's 11th #1 hit.
2. Justin Bieber: Never Say Never- $30.3M/$31M
I don't know how this Justin Bieber kid is but he looks like an adolescent lesbian. Whoever he is, his concert film managed to draw more than Michael Jackson's This Is It, which should be cause enough for some of the more musically intelligent to riot in the streets. The film was built in the 3D format, and it accounted for roughly 80% of it's business.
3. Gnomeo & Juliet- $25.5M
Disney might be wishing they hadn't passed on this one, although they're still distributing it. The animated family-friendly take on the Shakespeare tragedy, Gnomeo and Juliet reaped the benefits of a lack of similar competition. Should it go without saying that it's the highest debut for a garden gnome movie ever?
4. The Eagle- $8.59M
So Channing Tatum's name doesn't quite equate to box office success yet. Even with the promise of sword and sandals action, and plenty of opportunities for the actor to have his shirt off, the historical war flick failed to connect with any audience other than young males....who presumably aren't interested in Tatum's abs.
5. The Roommate- $8.4M/$26M
The Gossip Girl crowd and their disposable income helped keep The Roommate afloat in it's second week, only dipping 45%.
6. The King's Speech- $7.41M/$93.9M
7. No Strings Attached- $5.64M/$59.9M
8. Sanctum- $5.13M/$17.5M
9. True Grit- $3.77M/$160M
10. The Green Hornet- $3.6M/$92.3M
Anybody else surprised this hasn't crossed $100M yet?
