I'm not sure Duncan Jones realized what he accomplished with his freshman film, the thoughtful hard sci-fi flick, Moon. In the same way we equate Scorsese with gritty crime dramas, so is Jones now firmly entrenched as the science fiction man to beat. Source Code, Jones's intense body jumping thriller starring Jake Gyllenhaal, is a totally different beast. More action packed, but equally crowd pleasing, intelligent and character driven.
A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to chat with him about Source Code. Between talking about his extremely hectic schedule and making fun of the outdated technology at my disposal, he was more than willing to talk about the many influences he drew upon when crafting the world of Source Code.
