After a mostly lukewarm response to the smokey teaser for Marcus Nispel's Conan the Barbarian, we're finally getting a first full trailer that shows more than a few mere flashes. And you know what? It doesn't look half bad. Jason Momoa stars as the classic barbarian King from Robert E. Howard's stories, and he more than looks the part. I've been having the sneaking suspicion this would end up looking like some bad Saturday afternoon TV show, like Hercules
or Xena
, but it doesn't. Nispel, who has yet to really impress me with his previous stuff like Friday the 13th
and the horrendous Pathfinder
, seems to have put all he has into what he's always referred to as his "dream project". Conan the Barbarian stars Jason Momoa, Stephen Lang(Avatar
), Rose McGowan, Rachel Nichols, Ron Perlman, and Bob Sapp. It's due to strike down theaters on August 19th. Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think!
