Cowboys & Aliens doesn't come out until July 29th, which might explain why it's kinda flying under the radar right now. It's been lost in the shuffle of Transformers: Dark of the Moon and of course Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. So it's understandable, but I think there's a pretty good chance that it might turn out to be one the summer's biggest surprises. Jon Favreau has proven to be effective with big action, as well as managing large casts of characters. And what a cast he has to work with this time: Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, Paul Dano, Sam Rockwell, Adam Beach, Clancy Brown, and Keith Carradine. Throw in that the film is a blender of genres, sci-fi meets the Old West, and I think you've got a recipe for popcorn flick success.
The Spike TV Guys' Choice Awards has been a fountain of news and clips over the last few days, and you can throw this sneak peek onto that pile. While not vastly different than the previous trailers we've seen, we do get a better look at Paul Dano as the crazy son of Harrison Ford's character. Plus I think this one shows us a bit more of the action we're all expecting. Check it out for yourself below...
PLOT
In 1873 Arizona, a loner named Jake Lonergan (Daniel Craig) awakens with no memory of his past and a mysterious shackle around his wrist. He enters the town of Absolution where he learns that he is a notorious criminal wanted by many people, including Colonel Dolarhyde (Harrison Ford), who rules the town with an iron fist. Absolution soon faces an even greater threat when alien spaceships attack the town. While his shackle holds the key to defeating the aliens, Lonergan must ally with Dolarhyde and other former enemies to make a stand against them
