Trailer Time: Flypaper, starring Patrick Dempsey and Ashley Judd

Dig the cast of Flypaper: Patrick Dempsey, Ashley Judd, Jeffrey Tambor, Mekhi Pfifer, Tim Blake Nelson. Sounds like a recipe for success based on the cast alone. Then you throw in that it's a heist film, a particular favorite of mine. Add in that it's directed by Rob Minkoff, who directed The Lion King, Stuart Little, and The Forbidden Kingdom. Solid stuff. Oh, and did I mention the film was written by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, who brought us this little comedy you might've heard of called The Hangover?

And yet the reviews of Flypaper coming out of the festival circuit have been horrendous. Not having seen it myself I can't judge, but what I can do is note that this new trailer looks mighty generic. The film features Dempsey as a guy named Tripp(hate him already), who finds himself stuck between two rival teams of bank robbers as they try to rip off the same bank at the same time. Meanwhile he's trying to score points with the cute bank teller(Judd of course). Sounds and looks awful, but maybe we'll be surprised. Flypaper will hit theaters on August 4th.
