Captain America's costume in The Avengers revealed

Captain America: The First Avenger is in theaters right now(review here), marking the final leg of Marvel's cinematic journey to Joss Whedon's The Avengers. It's been remarkable plan they've laid out, to be honest, starting from that first post-credit sequence after Iron Man up until now. The payoff will be next summer when we finally get to see all these box office champions teaming up against some massive interstellar threat. I can't wait.

Whether you've seen Captain America yet or not, one thing is pretty clear and it's that his costume looks like something out of the time period, which is set in WWII. It's no secret that Cap winds up in our time(otherwise how would he be part of the team?), and is gonna need some hot new threads. At Comic-Con yesterday, Marvel revealed Cap's Avengers costume, and our friends over at Slashfilm snapped a pic of it...

The costume Cap is sporting right now is basically a take on his Ultimate Avengers look. This one is obviously the more familiar version of Captain America. The stark bright blue, the bright red and the  starry centerpiece. I can't see if there's an "A" in the middle of his mask, but I sure hope so. Yep, I did the "A".

The Avengers hits theaters on May 4th 2012.
