They should just call movies like this "Hook-up movies", because that's basically what they're all about. The Myth of the American Sleepover tells the familiar story of a group of young kids, trying to live the last few days of summer to the fullest before school starts back. That means hooking up. Written and directed by first timer David Robert Mitchell, the film features a cast of newcomers, who were obviously good enough to earn it rave reviews at Cannes, the Indie Spirits, and SXSW. For all my joking around about it, this is the type of film I tend to gravitate to. American Graffiti, Dazed and Confused, Little Darlings, I can see hints of all of those in this trailer.
