Richard Ayoade takes Chris Tucker's role in Neighborhood Watch
I think most people woke up with a Scooby-Doo "HUH!!!???" when they learned last week that Chris Tucker was about to make a film that didn't have the word "Rush"anywhere in the title. Much less two movies? What the frig?? Well turns out it was too good to be true. While Tucker is still lined up to be part of David O. Russell's The Silver Linings Playbook, his role as Jamarcus in the comedy Neighborhood Watch has gone to somebody else.
Variety reports that British funnyman and director, Richard Ayoade, has snagged the role. Ayoade made a huge splash earlier this year with his feature film directing debut, Submarine. And while he's already got his follow-up, The Double, in the planning stages, he'll get a chance to flex his comedic muscles alongside an amazing cast.
Directed by Akiva Schaffer, Neighborhood Watch revolves around a group of men who use the program as an excuse to get away from their wives. Things go awry when they fall headlong into an alien conspiracy that puts the world in jeopardy. Vince Vaughn, Ben Stiller, Jonah Hill, Rosemarie Dewitt, and Nicholas Braun star, based on a script by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.
