No matter how derivative exorcism movies have become, they still remain big business. The Last Exorcism turned into a surprise hit just last year, pulling in nearly $70M. With Paramount's Paranormal Activity 3 due to hit theaters this week, there's some talk that it may be the last of the lucrative horror franchse. So could The Devil Inside be their next big thing? Considering the early being given to the film, it's clear that is the plan.
Co-Written and directed by William Brent Bell(Stay Alive), the documentary style flick is set in Italy, and tells the story of a woman whose mother killed three men while undergoing an exorcism. Looks like nobody bothered to finish the job. Hard to get good help these days. Check out the trailer for The Devil Inside below....
Yep, it looks like a cross between The Last Exorcism and Paranormal Activity, which is probably why Paramount's so behind it. Personally I'm sick of these faux documentary, found footage flicks. But they aren't gonna go anywhere anytime soon. The Devil Inside will hit theaters on January 6th 2012. [Shocktilyoudrop]
