Alice Eve to play an all new character in Star Trek sequel

Alice Eve has been around for longer than I think people realize. She's great in Starter for 10, actually, opposite James McAvoy. But she didn't really get noticed until the nerds got to live vicariously through Jay Baruchel as he made out with her in She's Out of My League. To be blunt, she's a stone cold hottie, so the role was perfect for her. Unfortunately she hasn't done a whole lot since but get passed over for roles in some big time franchises, like Man of Steel and X-men: First Class. Well, the third time appears to be the charm as she's set to don a pair of Vulcan ears or something as part of JJ Abrams' Star Trek sequel.

Variety has the story, but doesn't reveal anything about the character she'll play except to say it'll be a new addition to the Star Trek canon. I'm having geeky visions of her in a skimpy Uhura skirt mat wrestling with an equally clothed Zoe Saldana. Eve beat out a couple of others for the role, namely Teresa Palmer(I Am Number Four) and Hayley Atwell(Captain America: The First Avenger).

After some delays which saw the sequel bumped from it's slot this year until May 2013, the film seems to cranking into high gear now. Benicio Del Toro seems assured for the villain role, and we know now that it'll be presented in 3D.  Eve will be seen next in the Edgar Allen Poe thriller, The Raven. For those who think I forgot Men in Black III when running down her possible franchise roles, I ignored it on purpose because it'll probably suck and she'll likely be terrible in it. Call it a hunch.
