Trailer Time: Rampart, starring Woody Harrelson and Ben Foster
I'd be perfectly happy if director Oren Moverman made it a point to only work with Ben Foster and Woody Harrelson in all of his films. The combination proved to be stellar a couple of years ago with The Messenger, presenting a powerful inside look at a corner of the military we never see. Now the trio are back again with Rampart, and just like with The Messenger, the Oscar buzz is already starting to swirl.
The LAPD gets raked over the coals again in another film about a corrupt cop in their anti-gang unit, Rampart Division. Based loosely on the 1990 Rampart Scandal, Woody Harrelson plays cop "Date Rape" Dave Brown, who has a very questionable view of law and order. This looks like it may be Harrelson's Training Day grab, although he's been very effective playing morally questionable characters before. Along with Ben Foster, the film also features Anne Heche, Ned Beatty, Ice Cube, Sigourney Weaver, Robin Wright, Cynthia Nixon, and Steve Buscemi.
I just got my screener of Rampart in the mail, as the studios make their bid to butter us up for our awards votes. So I'll fill you in on just how good(or bad) the movie is in a few days. After a brief and limited run to qualify for the Oscars starting on November 23rd, Rampart will then roll out nationally on January 27th. Check out the trailer below....
