Trailer Time: Shame, starring Michael Fassbender and Carey Mulligan
There's scarcely a word of dialogue uttered in this sensual new trailer for Shame, the darling of this year's award season....although it has no shot at actually winning anything. Well, let me take that back. This latest pairing of director Steve McQueen and star Michael Fassbender will no clean house around the globe at a number of regional award festivals, and it may even snag a Golden Globe or two. But the big daddy? The Academy Award? With it's NC-17 rating and dark territory, I'm afraid Shame is just a little too risque to have a chance.
The film centers on a sexual addict(Fassbender) who's life is totally consumed by his need. When his troubled sister(Carey Mulligan) shows up in town to stay with him, it further complicates his life and he begins a terrible downward spiral. Earlier today on my homie Tim Gordon's show, Keeping it Reel, I had Shame as one of my top 3 anticipated flicks for the holiday season. One look at this trailer should tell you why. featuring Carey Mulligan's stirring rendition of "New York, New York", backing Fassbender's character as he trolls through the city looking for his latest conquest. It's a powerful trailer, and one that makes me more anxious for December 2nd to get here. Check it out below...
