Felicity Jones to play Charles Dickens' mistress in The Invisible Woman
It's been a heck of a week for Felicity Jones. No, scratch that. It's been a hell of a year. The Brit TV star has seen her stock rise with her breakthrough performance in the indie romance, Like Crazy, winning the Special Jury prize at Sundance and a few days ago scoring Breakthrough Actress at the Gotham Awards. That's just the tip of the iceberg, as her name will surely come up at the bigger award shows in the coming weeks. Add to that landing a prime role in Warren Beatty's upcoming Howard Hughes biopic, and the sky is pretty much the limit. But she's hardly done, as she's just signed on for a film that allows her to work with one of the best actors working today in his second directorial outing.
Jones will play Charles Dickens' mistress, Ellen "Nelly" Ternan, in The Invisible Woman, based on Claire Tonalin's non-fiction book. Ralph Fiennes is set to make his directorial follow-up to Coriolanus(check it out when you can. it's intense) with the film, which will chronicle Ternan's affair with the writer which began when she was only 18 years old and him 45 years of age. The script will be written by Abi Morgan, who is having a busy few months herself as the writer of Shame and The Iron Lady.
Filming is expected to begin in the spring or summer of 2012, after she completes Beatty's flick. [TheDailyMail]
