Jessica Biel dives into 'Emanuel and the Truth About Fishes'
When Tanner Hall director Francesca Gregorini lost Rooney Mara from her next film, Emanuel and the Truth About Fishes, she also lost pretty much every ounce of star power it had. Mara's star is certainly shining bright right now thanks to landing the coveted Lisbeth Salander role in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo(my review), and her replacement Kaya Scodelario(Skins) couldn't come close to matching it. Fortunately, a new addition to the cast may be just what the doctor(or director) ordered.
Jessica Biel has joined the cast of the loopy sounding story, which has her starring as the wacked out Linda, who thinks that her life-like doll is actually a real baby. Her new neighbor, a troubled teenager named Emanuel, babysits the doll only because Linda bears a striking resemblance to her late mother.
Biel has done solid dramatic work before, like in The Illusionist and Home of the Brave, but it's been a long time since she really pushed herself. After New Year's Eve and next year's Total Recall remake, she may be in need to go in a different direction. [Variety]
