New teaser poster for The Cabin the Woods, co-written by Joss Whedon

There's been an amazing amount of buzz for The Cabin in the Woods, and for good reason. People have been waiting a long ass time for it, that's why. Well, then there's the fact that Joss Whedon produced and co-wrote  it with his Buffy the Vampire Slayer partner, Drew Goddard. And then there's the cast, which features Chris Hemsworth, Richard Jenkins, Amy Acker, Bradley Whitford, Keith David, and Tom Lenk.

Initially scheduled for release last year, it got caught up in the whole MGM bankruptcy deal and was shelved indefinitely. With MGM mostly back on their feet, and with Lionsgate distributing, we'll finally get to see it on April 13th 2012.

The combination of Whedon and Goddard has sent expectations sky high, with some already saying that the film does unique things with the usual horror conventions. We'll see, but the plot doesn't sound all that great to me, basically following a group of college kids spending their vacation in a secluded, likely dangerous, cabin.

Aint It Cool News has the first poster for the film,, which promises that guys like me who are looking at it with some doubts, are in for a surprise. That is a spooky image, though.
