Trailer Time: Good Deeds, written and directed by Tyler Perry
Tyler Perry just doesn't seem all that into it when he's not dressed up as a fat, mouthy older black woman. In the trailer for his latest message movie, Good Deeds, he muddles through some flat voice over and stilted dialogue(he did write the film after all, so it's not a surprise) as a wealthy businessman who always has done what was expected of him. That includes running his father's company, and marrying the woman he's expected to marry. But since he's wealthy and the people in his life are wealthy, of course he's miserable. That will change only when he meets a poor, down 'n out single mother(Thandie Newton) and his encounter with her forces him to reevaluate his life.
Although I think Perry desperately needs to come up with an original theme for once, since ALL of his films seem to have the same common ideas, Good Deeds looks like a departure in that it's smaller, with less of a soap opera vibe. Perry isn't much of an actor, and his scenes here aren't going to change my opinion, but I hope this is a step in a more positive direction for him. We shall see. Gabrielle Union, Brian J. White, Phylicia Rashad, Rebecca Romijin, and Jamie Kennedy co-star. Good Deeds will darken my birthday on February 24th. Check out the trailer below....
