Trailer Time: Jack the Giant Killer, directed by Bryan Singer
Last night at the screening for Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol, we caught a glimpse at the trailer for Bryan Singer's long in development, summer blockbuster, Jack the Giant Killer. Just in case you haven't had enough of classic fairy tales punched up with lots of sword fighting and looking vaguely like The Lord of the Rings. While it doesn't pack the whallop of Snow White and the Huntsman, Singer and screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie(The Usual Suspects) have done a good job giving us a taste of the story we're familiar with, and a look at the violence that will set this version apart.
Wisely, the giants themselves remain mostly hidden, as the overall special effects don't appear to be totally completed. The better to highlight Nicholas Hoult(X-men: First Class) as the true face of the film, playing Jack, who with his magic beans unwittingly sets off a war with the giants who live high in the clouds. Ian McShane, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, and Eleanor Tomlinson all co-star, but we barely get a look at most of them. I'm dying to see how Bill Nighy and John Kassir appear as the double-headed leader of the giant clan. This is probably just the opening shot out of the gate, and there will be much more of Jack the Giant Killer to come before it hits theaters on June 15th. Check out the trailer below....
