Trailer Time: Prometheus, directed by Ridley Scott
A phenomenal week for debut movie trailers reaches it's apex with the release of Prometheus, Ridley Scott's film which to me sure looks like it ties into 1979's Alien. Just how much is anybody's guess, and the trailer, which doesn't show us much, does feature some imagery to support that notion. In particular, Scott doesn't seem to have forgotten the heavy air of anxiety and terror prevalent in his sci-fi classic. Then there are more direct correlations, like a crewmember suffering from what appears to be acid burns to the face.
Damon Lindelof and Jon Spaihts have apparently put together a story significantly larger than Alien ever was, with much bigger questions being proposed, stretching back to the origins of the human race. Personally I'd rather it remain a bit simpler than all that, but the whole idea has got me pretty excited. The cast features Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green, Kate Dickie, Rafe Spall, Noomi Rapace, Sean Harris, Guy Pearce, and Patrick Wilson.
Check out the new trailer below....
Like I said, not a lot to it, but the atmosphere is perfect and pure Alien. Prometheus will touch down on June 8th 2012!
