Oh sweet, it's something different than the usual pic of Bilbo Baggins(Martin Freeman) smiling like he just finished second breakfast. In the latest image from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Bilbo is filthy, covered in dust and dirt, and looking a little pissed off. I think it's right around the time he discovers The One Ring, just based on his surroundings.
J.R.R. Tolkien's novel features a journey that is similar to what we later read in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, but the tone is much lighter. A lot of the major background events(such as Gandalf and other wizards battling a disguised Sauron) take place off the page, and battles are described vaguely. Peter Jackson is obviously going to want to make this as close to his previous films as possible, so expect the tone to be a bit darker. The story centers on a young Bilbo, who goes on a quest with a number of dwarf solders to battle the dragon Smaug and reclaim the Lonely Mountain.
