Paul Feig set to direct 'The Better Woman' for Universal
With the likelihood of a Bridemaids sequel dwindling, and even Melissa McCarthy(who the sequel would probably focus on) saying it would be a terrible idea without Kristen Wiig, the rest of the film's talented crew is moving on to other projects. For it's director, Paul Feig, that means sticking with Universal for at least one more flick.
Variety reports he'll take the helm on The Better Woman, which features a script by Amy Sherman-Palladino, the creator behind Gilmore Girls(which co-starred McCarthy). The story comes from Ron Bass(How Stella Got Her Groove Back) and Jen Smolka, and at one point Reese Witherspoon was showing some interest but has since moved on. The story centers on a successful business woman who is dumped by her boyfriend for a younger woman. So in order to find out why it happened, she becomes friends with the older lady. Yuck. I hate it already.
Feig has a lot on his plate already, and there's no clue where this will fit in. He'll team up with McCarthy for Dumb Jock at some point, and recently revealed he'll be tackling some sort of reboot of a well known comedy franchise. Thankfully he removed himself from that Bridget Jones' Diary sequel.
