Unbelievable Casting: Octavia Spencer hops aboard 'Snow Piercer'

Could it get any better for those of us following the development of Bong Joon-Ho's English language debut, Snow Piercer? The film already sounds fantastic, set in a post-apocalyptic future and following the last group of human survivors on a train headed to nowhere, where a class system starts to emerge as supplies begin to dwindle. Already set to star Chris Evans, Song Kang-Ho, Jamie Bell, Tilda Swinton, and John Hurt, they can now boast to having one of this year's red hot Best Supporting Actress nominees.

Octavia Spencer, nominated for her feisty performance as Minny in The Help, is the latest to join the cast. She'll play a mother who joins a growing revolution on board the train in order to help save her son. Based on the French graphic novel, Le Transperceneige, the latest draft of the script was completed by Kelly Masterson(Before the Devil Knows You're Dead).

This one should get underway in April, which should give Spencer time to wrap up the spiritual comedy, Lamb of God, the directorial debut of Diablo Cody.  [THR]
