Larry David to star in improvisational comedy directed by Greg Mottola

While HBO continues to hope and pray for Larry David to do a ninth season of Curb Your Enthusiasm, the Seinfeld co-creator is looking to get back into the feature film business. After starring in the dreadful Woody Allen flick, Whatever Works, and then in this year's The Three Stooges, David is sticking close to what he does best for his next effort. THR reports he's set to star in an improv heavy comedy which may have Greg Mottola(Superbad) on board to direct.

Details on the untitled film are slim, but we know it'll reunite David with writers Alec Berg, Jeff Schaffer and David Mandel, who all worked with him on Seinfeld and 'Curb'. The trio also wrote the script for Sacha Baron Cohen's The Dictator. Cohen and David are two of the best at off-the-cuff comedy, so this should be perfect for them. Mottola's been dabbling more in TV lately, as he's set to direct the pilot episode of HBO's The Newsroom. It'll be his first film since the sci-fi/comedy, Paul, which starred Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Eh, it was good but forgettable.

There's a part of me that thinks maybe David is going to forgo another season of 'Curb' and maybe just continue on with it as a movie, and this certainly has all the pieces to possibly be just that.
