Sure Shots: 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes 2'; Aaron Sorkin; Isabelle Fuhrman

* Fox didn't waste anytime locking everybody down for a Rise of the Planet of the Apes sequel. And why would they, considering the film earned nearly $500M and proved to be just as much of a critical hit. Andy Serkis will be donning the flashing motion-capture lights again as the chief ape, Caesar, and director Rupert Wyatt will be back as well. With original writers, Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa returning to write a draft for the sequel, THR reports that Scott Z. Burns(Contagion, The Informant!) is also going to prep his own draft. As for the plot? Not much is known at this point, but the trade says it'll involve the apes emerging as society's new rulers. Yeah, kinda saw that coming. But will they talk? That's what I want to know.

* Don't worry, folks! There is a Steve Jobs biopic on the way that doesn't have Ashton Kutcher anywhere near it. Sony has confirmed that Aaron Sorkin(The Social Network) will indeed pent the script for the film, titled simply Steve Jobs. For months it seemed like it was bound to happen, as Sorkin seemed like the natural fit for the gig. The film will be based on the comprehensive book by Walter Isaacson, who conducted dozens of interviews with the Apple co-founder over a number of years. [Slashfilm]

* You don't need me to recount just how far David Gordon Green has fallen as a director, so I'll just put it like this:  At first he was making great films like All the Real Girls and George Washington, then in the last year he gave us Your Highness and The Sitter. Case closed. He does appear to be on the way back to quality, as he's now casting up his long planned remake of Dario Argento's 1971 horror, Suspiria. The first to be officially cast is Isabelle Fuhrman, who first broke out a couple of years ago in Orphan, and appeared as one of the skilled Tributes in The Hunger Games. The original film, which many consider a classic but I think is junk, featured a ballet dancer named Suzy Banyon who transfers to a school in Italy that happens to be run by witches. Bad crap happens. First announced back in 2008, the ball will finally get rolling this September.   [Variety]
