'Jurassic Park 4' to stomp into theaters in 2014?

That Frank Marshall sure has been a chatty fellow lately, hasn't he? The producer who has been babbling on about The Bourne Legacy lately has now started talking up Jurassic Park 4. If he turned out to be a little over-confident about the chances of seeing Matt Damon and Jeremy Renner in a fifth Bourne film, he may be reaching for the stars on a release date for Steven Spielberg's fourth dinosaur flick.

With Spielberg only on board in a producing capacity, there's still no director in place, but we got some good news in learning that Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver(Rise of the Planet of the Apes) would be tackling the script. Considering there have been numerous drafts written by others(most recently Mark Protosevich), it's unclear what direction they'll be going. In other words, things are still very early in development, which is why this statement by Marshall seems a touch too optimistic...

Marshall: “I would say that it will be on the screen within two years.”

The creation of the dinosaurs in the original Jurassic Park films were a technological breakthrough, and Marshall talks specifically about the advancements in technology that should make the new movie look even better. It's also for that reason it will probably require a good deal of post-production, so I have my doubts if 2014 is feasible.

He also confirmed the film would definitely be a sequel and not a reboot, so here's hoping we see some of the old faces returning. We'll probably hear more about who will actually be stepping behind the camera in the next few weeks if they really plan on hurrying the film into theaters. [Collider]
