1st photo of Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger in 'The Tomb'

The Expendables 2 isn't the only chance you'll get to see action hero legends Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger team up. The two got along so famously that they both agreed to star in The Tomb, a thriller that once was once a Schwarzenegger lead project before he passed it off to Stallone, then rejoined it a few months later. Once with Antoine Fuqua in line to direct, it's been Mikael Hafstrom(Derailed) behind the camera.

After receiving a few set photos, we're now getting our first official look at the film, which has Stallone playing the foremost security expert, specializing in building inescapable, impenetrable structures. All his ingenuity and skills are put to the test when he's forced to try and escape a prison of his own design, after being framed by an unknown party.  Schwarzenegger plays a character described as "complex", a guy who helps the inmates maintain their sanity.

When listening to Schwarzenegger and Stallone discuss their careers at The Expendables 2 press conference, one of the things that really got me was how aligned the two are in regards to the current state of their favored genre. They both seem dedicated to keeping the old style of action movie alive, and I think we've seen over the last couple of years their willingness to do that. It's more than just The Expendables, but movies like The Last Stand and Bullet to the Head. Let's hope they keep 'em coming for a long time, or until their bodies finally give out! No release date yet for The Tomb, but we should see it in 2013.
