Justin Theroux to write and direct 'Swear to God', with Will Ferrell and Steve Carell

Justin Theroux has seen some remarkable success as an actor(Mulholland Drive) and writer(Iron Man 2) thus far, although he's still waiting to land that first big directing hit. His debut behind the camera, the Mandy Moore/Billy Crudup rom-com, Dedication, turned a few heads on the festival circuit a few years ago, but his sophomore effort may be the one that puts him on the map.

Theroux is set to rewrite and direct Swear to God, which will star Anchorman pals Will Ferrell and Steve Carell. The story centers on a narcissistic hedge fund manager(Ferrell) who thinks he has been spoken to by God. The script was originally written by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland(Due Date), and has been in the works for the better part of a year with little progress until now.

Production is set to begin next summer, and I hope it doesn't interfere with the Zoolander sequel Theroux is supposed to be directing. [Deadline]
