Breathtaking new trailer for Andrea Arnold's 'Wuthering Heights'
Lovers of adaptations of literary period-pieces will have plenty to choose from over the coming months. Mike Newell has his version of Great Expectations coming up, along with Joe Wright's Anna Karenina with Keira Knightley. But one that's not getting a lot of buzz despite some early controversy and a hot reception out of Venice last year is Andrea Arnold's Wuthering Heights.
An absolutely stunning new trailer has been released, and it looks as if Arnold's willing to push Emily Bronte's classic novel into some fresh, new directions visually. Just as in her undervalued previous film, Fish Tank, Arnold's direction is bold and dynamic, and you can almost feel the windswept cold coursing through each scene. Arnold took a little guff for casting black Brit actor James Howson as Heathcliff, but his scenes here with Kaya Scodelario as Catherine are simply smoldering. Can we get this movie right friggin' now, please?
Wuthering Heights hits NYFF on October 5th then expands into more markets from there. Check out the trailer below and find out why I had this so high on my Fall Indie Movies to Watch list....[Vulture]
