New poster for Ben Affleck's hostage thriller 'Argo'
Unlike with The Town, we're not going to have to wait until Argo comes out to start hearing the Oscar buzz. It's already begun in earnest, and Warner Bros. will likely start ramping up the marketing machine behind Ben Affleck real quick. Hopefully that means we'll get one more trailer, to follow-up on the solid one we got a few months ago. But as for as one-sheets go, this newly released one is expected to be the last. Kindof a bland way to go out, but I suppose it gets the job done, and the film reel at the center of it gives it a 1970s vintage quality that's kinda cool.
Ben Affleck pulls double duty on this one, starring as CIA agent Tony Mendez, the guy who helped lead the clandestine operation to free six American diplomats during the 1979 Iran hostage crisis. Joining forces with the Canadian government, Mendez created an elaborate deception to convince Iran the hostages were actually part of a film crew. Argo opens on October 12th and co-stars Kyle Chandler, Alan Arkin, Bryan Cranston, Scoot McNairy, John Goodman, Kerry Bishe, Chris Messina, Taylor Schilling, Clea Duvall, and holy crap there's a lot of them.
