Jeremy Renner and Julianne Moore join Al Pacino in rocker comedy 'Imagine'

When last we heard about Imagine, the upcoming rocker film from writer/director Dan Fogelman(Crazy Stupid Love), it was June of last year when Al Pacino came aboard in the lead role. Steve Carell had signed on the year before and was set to produce, but production was so slow that he had to drop out. Now it looks like his replacement has been found.

In one of the strangest switcheroos ever, Jeremy Renner will step in for Carell, and he'll be joined by the always great Julianne Moore. Pacino plays an aging rocker who goes off in search of his son(Renner) after discovering an unread letter written by John Lennon. He sets off to clean up his act and rediscover his love for music. Moore will play a friend and the owner of the New Jersey hotel were Pacino is staying. Carell will stay on board in a producing capacity.

I'm curious to know if the change to Renner has affected the way Fogelman plans to present the character, as he's totally different from Carell. Filming on Imagine begins next spring. [Deadline]
