*UPDATE* 1st photo and poster from 'The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones'

*UPDATE* I've included the newly released poster for the film.

After nearly being shuffled off to movie limbo earlier this year when Screen Gems got cold feet, and director Scott Stewart dropping out, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones is now completed with a new trailer set to hit the web on Thursday. But before that, EW has this first shot of Lily Collins as Clara Fray, the protagonist in the first of Cassandra Clare's young adult novels.

Directed by Harald Zwart, the story centers on Clara, a regular NYC teen who discovers she comes from a long line of Shadowhunters, half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle against demons. Jaime Campbell Bower, Kevin Durand, Robert Sheehan, Lena Headey, Jared Harris, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, and Kevin Zegers co-star.

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones opens August 23rd 2013.
