'Anchorman 2' set for December 2013 release date

Remember a couple of years ago when it looked like any hope of an Anchorman sequel was deader than disco? Adam McKay had all but thrown in the towel as Paramount passed on a follow-up to the cult hit, and eager fans were forced to wonder what might have become of the Action 4 New Team. But all that changed earlier this year, and while plot details are still kind of sketchy, there can be no denying once and for all that Anchorman: The Legend Continues is happening, and now we know exactly when.

Paramount has set a December 20th 2013 release date for the film, which will reunite Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, David Koechner, and Christina Applegate, along with a possible newcomer in Kristen Wiig. McKay and Ferrell are still firming up the script, which we've heard may involve some sort of custody battle, will include big musical numbers, and explores the advent of the 24-hour news cycle.

Whatever it's about, this is exciting news. Filming is expected to get underway next March.
