Hugh Jackman says a past X-man will appear in 'The Wolverine'

A couple of months ago a rumor emerged that Famke Janssen had been spotted on the set of The Wolverine, indicating at least the possibility of Jean Grey making a cameo in the film. It wasn't long after that we learned the film would take place after the events of X-men: The Last Stand, just another piece to what is turning out to be a interconnected mutant universe being cobbled together over at 20th Century Fox.

The Janssen thing was never really confirmed, but Hugh Jackman spoke to Parade and at least confirmed that a past X-man would be making a cameo....

Jackman: said: "You want to get me into trouble, don’t you? [laughs] Okay, the movie takes place after X-Men: The Last Stand. My character is at his lowest. He is supposed to be able to heal himself, but he may encounter someone who has worked out a way to really hurt him. And there is a cameo from one of the past X-Men in it."

He doesn't come right out and say it's Jean Grey, but it would make sense. Other than Cyclops, her death would weigh most heavily on Wolverine, and would be the perfect catalyst to send him to Japan to reevaluate his life.

The Wolverine takes a stab at theaters on July 26th.
