Maggie Gyllenhaal joins Michael Fassbender and Domhnall Gleeson in 'Frank'
Well here's a welcome bit of news during this slow holiday news week. With the exception of Won't Back Down, it's generally a good thing any time Maggie Gyllenhaal signs on to a new film, but when you throw Michael Fassbender, Domhnall Gleeson, and Scoot McNairy into the mix it's hard to not consider Frank one of 2013's most anticipated films.
Gyllenhaal is the latest to join the British rock comedy, which is loosely taken from the life of musician Chris Sievey, founder of the group known as The Freshies. He would eventually go the stand-up comedy route, creating the big-headed character Frank Sidebottom. Fassbender will play Sievey, while the film is mostly seen from the perspective of an aspiring musician(Gleeson) who joins his band. It's unclear right now who Gyllenhaal would play, but that's a pretty significant gathering of talent to say the least.
The script comes from Peter Straughan and journalist Jon Ronson, the latter having authored The Men Who Stare at Goats. Lenny Abrahamson is directing with plans for filming to begin early next year. [Albuquerque Business via ThePlaylist]
