Watch test footage from live-action 'Hong Kong Phooey' and 'Marvin the Martian'

You might recall last year that Eddie Murphy was signed to voice the martial arts super-pup Hong Kong Phooey in a live-action film directed by Alex Zamm. That project may or may not be dead. It's kind of hard to tell. But one project we know has been nixed was Zamm's planned film based on the Looney Tunes character, Marvin the Martian. Either way, he's put up some test footage from both for us to check out, which probably means they've been permanently scrapped.

The Hong Kong Phooey stuff is interesting only in that it looks like Zamm was aiming for a Beverly Hills Cop vibe, which makes some sense if you're going to be using Murphy's voice. The Marvin the Martian film was announced way back in 2008, and this footage looks pretty dated as a result. Even Marvin's voice, so much a part of his character, is way off. To me, neither looks good enough to ever appear in theaters, not surprising since most of Zamm's flicks have ended up straight-to-DVD. He has a Little Rascals movie coming out next year which will debut on the shelf at Wal-Mart.

Anyway, check out the footage below and judge for yourself....[Cartoon Brew via Bleeding Cool]
